Rally Roads
All rally roads are through, public paved/unpaved roads unless otherwise indicated by
the route instructions or course marker. Unless specifically described in the route instructions, do not consider roads you cannot legally proceed upon or roads marked dead end, private, closed, or no
outlet as rally roads or route possibilities.

Main Road Determinants (MRDs)
A Main Road exists at every intersection. To determine the Main Road, apply the MRDs as described below.
For an MRD to apply, it must define a single course leaving the intersection other than the one upon which the intersection was approached. If attempting to use an MRD results in more than one choice, proceed to the next MRD.
1.1 Onto You are Onto a road if a previous route instruction placed you Onto a road by name or
number. If you are Onto a road, the Main Road is the road you were placed Onto as identified by signs at the intersection. You remain Onto until you execute a subsequent route instruction
containing a course directing action (left, right, straight, turn).
1.2 Protection The Main Road is the single road leaving the intersection without an official highway
stop or yield sign.
1.3 Straight The Main Road is the road that continues straight or as nearly straight as possible.
If a deviation of greater than 45° is required, do not apply this MRD.
1.4 Left at T The Main Road is the road that goes left at a T.

Route Instructions
2.1 Action Point Route instructions can only be executed at two points:
- At an intersection where the route instruction directs you off the Main Road.
- At the indicated point where no change of direction is specified in the route instruction.
2.2 Numbered Route Instructions and Notes There are two types of route instructions:
- Numbered - Execute each numbered route instruction in ascending numerical order beginning at its first Action Point.
Complete each numbered route instructon before starting any part of the next numbered route instruction.
- Note - Note instructions are unnumbered route instructions which are in effect from their introduction until cancelled. Action must be taken as directed each time the appropriate Action Point
is encountered.
2.3 Reference Point Reference points marking the beginning of route instructions will occur at a
greater mileage than the mileage of the Action Point marking the end of the previous route instruction.
Signs
3.1 Signs must be exact as quoted.
3.2 Signs are read left to right, top to bottom.
